The arrival of the Via Podiensis in Nasbinals.

Between the Chaze-de Peyre and Aumont, the pilgrim could not miss this beautiful chapel, the one where the camino is cut by the route of the Nasbinals.  As if it couldn’t miss the captivating flow of water of the Rimeize.

After Aumont-Aubrac, the arrival at the border of the Aveyron at Nasbinals.  Its church Sainte-Marie of the 11th century with its octagonal belfry is a jewel of Roman art.  It's sanctuary with it's shell floor is admired by tourists and passing pilgrims.

Amongst the curiosities of Nasbinals, "the Baume chateau" of the 17th century, seat of the Lords of Peyre.  The finery of its interior decoration has earned it the nickname of "Little Versailles of Gévaudan".  The region of Nasbinals is particularly rich in lakes.  The lake route makes you discover the Salhien, Souveyrols, Saint Andéol and Born lakes, and the Déroc waterfall about ten minutes from the Verlac road.

The Nasbinals region is particularly beautiful in spring.  When jonquils, daffodils and wild hyacinths bloom on the prairies.  The wild calamint (Aubrac tea) and gentian roots used to make aperitif drinks and pharmaceutical products also play a part in this flora that grows abundantly on this peat of the Aubrac plateau.  For more information go to www.aubrac.com.

Two colourful characters have marked local life.  The first Pierre Brioude called Pierrounet of who we can see the bust in the square was a particularly well-known bonesetter in the Aubrac.  The second, Marc-Antoine Charrier was deputy of Third State for the Gévaudan after having completed his functions as Royal Notary.
